Former NBA center Olden Polynice isn’t holding back after Rich Paul, who was once again talking out of his rear end, suggested that the late Kobe Bryant would have supported LeBron James’ decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
Appearing on Byron Scott’s Fast Break, Polynice strongly criticized Paul for invoking Bryant’s name when discussing a hypothetical situation involving LeBron.
“This goes out to Rich Paul,” Polynice said. “I have nothing but respect for you as far as what you’ve accomplished and how you got there. You worked your butt off. But you need to shut the f**k up with that statement because that is the most asinine thing.”
Polynice argued that no one can accurately speak on behalf of Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in 2020, regarding a decision that never happened.
“Number one, we don’t know. You shouldn’t bring up Kobe in any way, shape, or form that he would know what you know, the decision LeBron made. That’s some bullsh*t. This is clickbait all over again.”
To emphasize his point, Polynice offered a striking analogy.
“That’s like me walking up and slapping somebody and going, ‘Malcolm X would have understood it.’ I don’t know what the hell Malcolm X would understand. To me, don’t do that. That’s so disrespectful.”
The comments stem from Rich Paul’s recent remarks suggesting Bryant would have supported LeBron’s reported move to Philadelphia. While Paul’s statement sparked debate across the basketball world, Polynice believes invoking Bryant’s name to support a modern-day narrative crosses a line.
